Probation Service Annual Report for 2014

The Probation Service Annual Report 2014 was launched by the Minister for Justice and Equality, Mrs Frances Fitzgerald TD on 18th May 2015.

  • The average cost of supervising a Probation Order is €5,000.
  • The average cost of a year in prison in 2013 was €68,959.
  • The number of offenders dealt with in the community fell from the 15,984 in 2013, to 15,134..
  • The number of orders for supervision increased to 1,716.
