Write to Freedom is an innovative project seeking to employ the cathartic act of memoir writing in an attempt to allow young offenders to reflect on their past, and build towards a better future. Artistic Director of the project, Caspar Walsh, has been chronicling the ups and downs of Write to Freedom in his Guardian blog since October 2008.
In his most recent blog, Walsh describes a recent trip to Dartmoor with some of the young offenders, and the experience of exposing them to wilderness, open spaces and an environment that was both alien and beautiful to them.
