Party manifesto analysis: People Before Profit Alliance

People Before Profit launched their party manifesto for the 2016 General Election, 'Share the Wealth: An Alternative Vision for Ireland', on Thursday 11th February 2016. The manifesto can be accessed here.

The manifesto does not address crime, sentencing or prison issues. However, IPRT welcomes the emphasis on tackling the demand for drugs in the relevant section (p. 7), including commitments to treating drug addiction as a medical problem.

IPRT also notes the People Before Profit 'Prison Policy' which is available here. Its key focus is on rehabilitation and restorative justice, increased provision of open prisons, and investment in marginalised communities - all welcome approaches.
