The Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT) is holding the launch event of the sixth edition of our report Progress in the Penal System (PIPS) 2022.
The launch will take place in Dublin on Friday 26 May 2023 at 10.30am with tea and coffee from 10am.
In recent years, PIPS has provided a comprehensive analysis of progress over a 12-month period towards meeting human rights and best practice in Ireland’s penal system. The overall purpose of the PIPS project has been to promote and assess progress across a broad range of issues in Ireland’s penal system, guided by a set of 35 standards.
PIPS 2022 will take a closer look at overcrowding in the prison estate, and on women in prison amongst other important benchmarking standards.
Contributors at the launch event will include: His Honour Judge Paul Kelly, President of the District Court; John O’Callaghan, Deputy Secretary (Criminal Justice), Department of Justice; Mark Kelly, Chief Inspector, Office of the Inspector of Prisons; Caron McCaffrey, Director General of the Irish Prison Service; and Mark Wilson, Director of the Probation Service.
Pamela Drumgoole, IPRT Policy and Research Coordinator, will introduce the report findings. The launch will be chaired by IPRT Board Member and Chair of the PIPS Advisory Group, Dr Cormac Behan, TU Dublin.
If you have any additional queries about the event, please email info@iprt.ie.
Please note that registrations can be paused or closed at any time.
