On 25 April 2024, the Council of Europe Anti-torture Committee (CPT) 2023 General Report on the protection of transgender persons in prison.
The Council of Europe’s Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) has published today its 33rd General report on its activities covering the year 2023. In this report, the Committee shares its experience and standards on the treatment and safeguards needed to protect transgender persons in prison. Its publication follows an exchange of views on 24 April 2024 between the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers and the President of the CPT, Alan Mitchell.
