Irish Times: Criminologist who argued for a humane justice system

2nd January 2016

On Saturday 2nd January 2016, The Irish Times published an obituary marking the sad passing of criminologist and founder member of IPRT, Dr Paul O'Mahony: "an eminent psychologist, criminologist and campaigner for the more progressive and constructive treatment of prisoners." As his former colleague and IPRT board member Dr Kevin Warner notes: "Through it all there is a deep commitment to social justice.”

At IPRT's 21st birthday event at Áras an Uachtaráin on 18th September 2015, President Michael D. Higgins paid a glowing tribute to Paul for his work as a criminologist and penal reformer.

Dr Paul O'Mahony's obituary can be read here.
