Serious concerns’ about bail system as pretrial detentions account for 19% of prison population - Irish Times

Saoirse Brady, IPRT’s Executive Director, tells The Irish Times that the growing use of pre-trial detention raises serious concerns about Ireland’s bail system. With people on remand now accounting for 19% of the prison population, IPRT is calling for greater use of bail supervision and community-based alternatives.
