Solicitors protest outside CCJ against new payment model

IPRT joined solicitors, barristers and other justice sector organisations in raising concerns about proposed changes to the criminal legal aid payment system.
Access to independent legal advice and representation is fundamental to protecting people's rights and ensuring fair outcomes. Any reform of the criminal legal aid system must strengthen, rather than undermine, the right of access to justice. Proposals to introduce a flat-fee payment model are not in the best interests of people appearing before the courts and risk compromising the quality and fairness of legal representation.
