IPRT's Liam Herrick in conversation with Fine Gael spokesperson for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Charlie Flanagan, on some of the inefficiencies inherent in our criminal justice system.
Discussing the case of an inmate transported between Dublin and Kerry, at a cost of €1500, for non-possession of a tax disc, the piece highlights the areas of the system where both time and money are unnecessarily expended. Liam cites the need for an 'information exchange' and enhanced co-ordination between the Irish Prison Service and the various other criminal justice organisations.
