A report published last week by the Criminal Justice Alliance draws together the views and direct experiences of CJA's members, who work across the justice system, often in prisons or resettlement work. The report, called 'Crowded out? The impact of prison overcrowding on rehabilitation', comprises evidence that makes the case that the Government needs to take urgent steps to limit the unnecessary use of prison, ensuring it is reserved for serious, persistent and violent offenders for whom no alternative sanction is appropriate.
