Department of Justice Action Plan 2024 and Statement of Strategy 2024-2026

Minister for Justice Helen McEntee has published the Department's Justice Plan 2024, outlining 136 actions.

The plan sets out the programme of work to be carried out by the Department of Justice throughout 2024. This plan aims to deliver on the goals and objectives set out in the new A safe, fair and inclusive Ireland: Statement of Strategy 2024-2026, released on the same day.

It is disappointing to read that ‘Expanding prison capacity’ is now officially part of the Justice strategy (see p.11 of the Strategy).

Of the 136 actions in Justice Plan 2024, many of them relate to IPRT’s work. Actions of relevance are primarily on p.18-20 of the Plan.
