28th November 2017
Sunday 26 November 2017 marked one year since the passing of the late Inspector of Prisons, Judge Michael Reilly. The staff and Board of IPRT are thinking of his family, friends and colleagues at this time.
Judge Reilly was unwavering in his commitment to ensuring respect for human rights and dignity in the prison system, and he had a deep compassion for the hardship and challenges faced by families outside. He was always very generous in his engagement with the Irish Penal Reform Trust.
It seems a fitting tribute that the most recent Annual Report of the Office of the Inspector of Prisons 2015/2016 was published by the Minister for Justice so close to the anniversary of Judge Reilly's passing. The 2015/2016 Annual Report was the last report completed by Judge Reilly and is available to view here.
IPRT has issued a press release on the report, which is available here.
