IPRT Executive Director Fíona Ní Chinnéide to leave post

The Board of the Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT) wishes to announce that its Executive Director, Fíona Ní Chinnéide, will be leaving her post on 8th February 2022 to take up a new opportunity.

Speaking on behalf of the Board, IPRT Chairperson Dr Seamus Taylor said:

“On behalf of the Board of IPRT, I want to thank Fíona for the significant contribution she has made to both IPRT and to penal reform in Ireland. Over the course of an almost 13-year career with IPRT, Fíona made an exceptional impact on the development and success of the organisation.

“In many roles, including three years as Executive Director, one year as Acting Director and four years as Deputy Director, Fíona worked tirelessly to ensure the continued positive impact of IPRT’s evidence-informed advocacy on the penal policy landscape in Ireland. She has been a fearless advocate for people in contact with the justice system, both among IPRT’s stakeholders and in the media.

“Fíona’s vision has set IPRT on a path of growth and development. It is through Fíona’s leadership that IPRT continues to be sector-leading both in its approach to its work and in its impact. Part of her legacy is the building and fostering of a brilliant and committed team, who will continue to drive an ambitious programme of penal reform into the future.

“We are particularly grateful to Fíona for successfully steering IPRT through the pandemic period to date. We sincerely thank Fíona for the enormous amount of hard work and energy she has brought to the organisation; her dedication has been unparalleled. We look forward to following Fíona’s next steps.

“We face the future of IPRT with confidence. The Board will work closely with the Acting Executive Director, Molly Joyce, to continue to fulfil IPRT’s ambitious mission.”

Fíona Ní Chinnéide will remain in post until 8th February 2022. From that date, Molly Joyce, currently Deputy Director, will take up the role of Acting Executive Director.
