IPRT partnering with two projects under the Irish Research New Foundations funding
14th March 2023
IPRT is delighted to be partnering with two projects under the Irish Research Council New Foundations funding. The two projects are 'Boxed Out: Higher education, criminal convictions, and perceptions of risk' and 'Advancing the Rights of Prisoners in Ireland Through Strategic Litigation'.
‘Boxed Out’ will be the first empirical research on Higher Education Institutions' admissions policies and practices regarding people with convictions in Ireland. The evidence will aid development of fair admissions policies and practices to reduce barriers and stigma. Dr Joe Garrihy and Dr Ciara Bracken-Roche of Maynooth University School of Law and Criminology will lead the project.
The Strategic Litigation project aims to draft a strategic litigation policy for the advancement of the rights of prisoners in Ireland and to develop a network of stakeholders, legal practitioners and academics for the purpose of initiating such cases. Dr Amina Adanan of Maynooth university School of Law and Criminology will lead this project.
