About the Irish Penal Reform Trust
The Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT) is the leading non-government, independent voice in public debate on reform of the Irish penal system. IPRT’s vision is to have a penal system that is humane, evidence-led and that uses prison as a last resort. Founded in 1994, IPRT campaigns vigorously across a wide range of penal policy issues. The organisation also publishes a wide range of policy positions and research documents.
About the Role
IPRT is now seeking to recruit a driven, experienced Executive Director who is committed to social equality and justice and who will lead, manage, and direct IPRT, within the context of their current and next Strategic Plan. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to make an important and meaningful contribution to policies that enhance social inclusion.
The Executive Director will be an integral part of IPRT’s growth and development beyond 2022 and will be responsible for the overall performance of the organisation in delivering on the strategic objectives and for the day-to-day operation of the business under the delegated authority of the Board of Directors. They will inspire and convey IPRT’s mission and vision to a wide range of stakeholders. They will have an understanding of public policy development and will have the capacity to serve as national spokesperson as well as demonstrating a commitment to social justice, human rights and IPRT’s vision, mission and values.
To succeed in this role, you will have senior management experience in the NGO, public, or a relevant private sector. It will be advantageous but not essential, to have previous experience within a social justice, criminal justice or general campaigning environment. Knowledge of penal policy and/or prisoners’ rights, or similar transferable knowledge in a related area is also desirable.
If you are a motivated and committed senior professional with an outstanding track record in leadership, advocacy and management, we would love to hear from you!
