The Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland (CJI) has published an inspection report on the Woodlands Juvenile Justice Centre (JJC).
The report praises the JJC for the high standard of care it provides to children held in custody in Northern Ireland but finds that challenges remain. The report finds good progress has been made towards implementing four strategic recommendations for improvement.
On publication of the report, the Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice in Northern Ireland described Woodlands JJC as “the jewel in the crown for the Youth Justice Agency (YJA) and Department of Justice (DoJ) and is a centre which is the envy of neighbouring jurisdictions."
