RADE, located in Dublin 8, aims to engage drug users with the arts and therapeutic supports, providing a platform for their artistic expression. The programmes on offer to participants include art, drama, creative writing, film, tai chi and relapse prevention.
“Hard Day” to be screened as part of Social Inclusion Week
RADE have teamed up with Dublin City Council for Social Inclusion Week 18th - 22nd Oct 2010. The RADE film "Hard Day" will be screened as part of the week of activities:
The screening will be followed by a questions & answers session with the cast. All are welcome, groups are welcome, and admission is free.
Exhibition:
RADE's first ever Retrospective Art Exhibition, showcasing artwork from the past five years, is currently being showcased in the National College of Art and Design where it will be displayed until 23 October. Admission to this is free.
Recent activities:
On 9 September, RADE launched the "Portraits" publication, a collection of the groups creative writing stories, facilitated by poet, Paula Meehan.
RADE also screened two films as part of Dublin's Culture Night on 24 September, "Today" and "Hard Day", at Meeting House Square, Dublin 2.
RADE Films:
“Today”, written by Pom Boyd in collaboration with the RADE participants, tells the story of Patrick who is sent by his eccentric doctor to find an arts project in Dublin’s inner city. Patrick perceivers with his journey through the streets overcoming the various impediments that happen on his way. An engaging, funny and moving short film that introduces both Patrick and the audience to the colourful characters that have found a home in the 'Art Row Workshop”: But Patrick arrives on the day the programmes funders are visiting...
“Hard Day”picks up at Billy's last hope at paying his way with his girlfriend Tina, which sees him pluck up enough courage to go busking. When he spots intimidating street criminal, Laser, who mugged him a year ago he sets out to settle the score and prove to Tina that he really is a hard man. Hard Day Is an authentic and entertaining short film shot against the colourful back drop of Dublin’s Temple Bar.
