15th August 2009

The first annual report of the Office of the Inspector of Prisons was published on 14th August 2009 by the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform.

The Annual Report for 2008 shows how the Inspector has taken a methodical and constructive approach to the task; issues of over-crowding in Irish prisons are highlighted as potentially a matter of life and death.
