The Irish Prison Service Statistics Office has published the Census of Restricted Regimes January 2019. The census contains information on the number of prisoners on a restricted regime, meaning that their out-of-cell time is restricted to five hours or less per day.
At the time of the January census, 570 prisoners in total were subject to a restricted regime, a decrease of 7% from 613 in October 2018. Of this, 38 prisoners were on a 22-hour restricted regime and 2 prisoners were on a 23-hour restricted regime. Key statistics from the census for January 2019:
