The Irish Prison Service Statistics Office has published the Census of Restricted Regimes October 2018. The census contains information on the number of prisoners on a restricted regime, meaning that their out-of-cell time is restricted to five hours or less per day.
At the time of the October census, 613 prisoners in total were subject to a restricted regime, an increase of 14% from 536 in July 2018. Of this, 14 prisoners were on a 22-hour restricted regime and 2 prisoners were on a 23-hour restricted regime. Key statistics from the census for October 2018:
