Guidance on Best Practice relating to Prisoners' Complaints and Prison Discipline

On 22nd Oct 2010, the Dept of Justice and Law Reform published a report by Inspector of Prisons, Judge Michael Reilly, on complaints and discipline procedures in Irish prisons.

The Inspector found that "the procedures in operation in Irish prisons relating to prisoners' complaints and the disciplining of prisoners fell short" having regard to the Prisons Act 2007 and the Irish Prison Rules 2007, and also international best practice.
