31st March 2014
Slavery in cannabis production and other criminal activity is a growing trend in Ireland and Globally. The Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) Acts (2008-2013) provide for slavery to be considered as a factor in such cases before the courts. The seminar aims to generate awareness of these legal provisions and examine case law from other jurisdictions to enable slavery victims to be identified at critical points in the criminal justice system. The seminar will also address the specific needs of trafficked persons in prison.
