NYCI: Working With Young People Involved in the Juvenile Justice System

14th December 2009

A useful resource for those working with young people, created by the National Youth Council of Ireland, ‘Access All Areas: A Diversity Toolkit for the Youth Work Sector’ aims to provide a comprehensive resource and ‘invites us to look at the supports that are needed - at a personal and organisational level - to make sure that all young people in a community feel they belong and are actively participating’.

Specific sections on various sub-groups of children who may merit special attention are provided, namely those young people who find themselves in conflict with the law.  This resource provides a clear introduction to the juvenile justice system and outlines the specific needs of those children who become embroiled in its workings.  ‘Working with Young People involved in the Juvenile Justice System’ was developed by Edel Kelly and Mairead Ní Laoi of Youth Work Ireland, Galway.
