Oireachtas Seminar on St Patrick's Institution

The seventh seminar for the All Party Oireachtas Penal Reform Group of TDs and Senators focused on the incarceration of children in St Patrick’s Institution.

Speakers at the event were the Ombudsman for Children, Emily Logan, and Professor Harry Kennedy of the Central Mental Hospital. Emily Logan spoke on the Office of the Ombudsman for Children's work with the 16 and 17 year-old boys in St. Patrick’s; Prof Harry Kennedy spoke on the impact of imprisonment on the mental health of adolescents, and new research in this area.
