Newstalk syndicated its news bulletins featuring the Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT), which were carried by approximately 10 media outlets nationwide, Midlands 103, Red FM, and Newstalk’s national network
As part of the coverage, IPRT spoke to the Newstalk news team about the findings of the Office of the Inspector of Prisons Annual Report 2024. The discussion highlighted serious concerns raised in the report, including inhuman and degrading conditions, overcrowding, and deaths in custody, as well as the urgent need to expand the use of alternatives to imprisonment.
Through this national coverage, IPRT continued to advocate for a more humane, just, and effective penal system in Ireland.
