Delay in Publication of Prison Census Reports

An error in the collection of data in Mountjoy Prison resulted in a delay of 3 months in the publication of census reports.
Census of Restricted Regime Prisoners January & April 2018

Both the January and April Censuses of restricted regimes were published today. The delay in publication of the January report is due to errors in the collection of data.

Although there has been an increase in the numbers on restricted regimes since the Census of Restricted Regime Prisoners July 2013, there has been a significant decrease, of 95%, on the number of prisoners on 22-/23-hour lock up.
