The 2020 Annual General Meeting of the Irish Penal Reform Trust took place virtually on 16th September 2020. The IPRT Annual Review 2019 – 2020 was launched at the AGM.
Members' event
Following the AGM, Dr Lisa Cuthbert (CEO, PACE) presented to the IPRT membership on her qualitative research study into the lived experiences of men serving life sentences. Her presentation, “That’s my story, I can’t change it”, shared themes and quotes from her interviews with from men at different stages of the 'lifer' experience. Dr Lisa Cuthbert bio: As CEO of PACE since 1999, Lisa has overseen the growth and development of PACE. Under Lisa’s stewardship, PACE has widened the range of convictions that the organisation works with and now offers a three-pronged approach to working with people with convictions for harmful sexual behaviour classified as being at high risk of reoffending. Lisa has developed an extensive programme of pre- and post-release services for life sentence and long-term sentence prisoners and has introduced a range of accommodation services for men leaving prison. In addition, PACE runs a range of training and education programmes. PACE Social Enterprise services offers meaningful employment for people with a criminal record.
