IPRT in the News

As part of the Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT) Strategic Plan 2023-2026, one of our main goals is to campaign for a progressive criminal justice system that upholds human rights. Engagement with the media plays a large part in that as we discuss our evidence-based research, advocate for people in prison, and work to change attitudes and challenge misconceptions about people in the criminal justice system.

The Government has approved draft legislation, which would provide for the electronic tagging of sex offenders after they have been released from prison.

Yesterday, Dr. Fiona Donson and Dr. Aisling Parkes, in collaboration with IPRT and the Children’s Rights Alliance launched a document ‘Principles of Action for Children with a Parent in Prison.’ The event Unseen Unheard was organised by the School of Law, University College Cork and hosted by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC).
